[They] wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy. No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away. Ezra 3:12-13
Have you ever been so full of joy that tears flowed down your cheeks?
I once had a friend tell me that tears are a language God understands. I think she got that from a song, although I don’t know what song, but it rang true with me and I have always remembered it. Tears, whether they are shed out of sorrow or out of joy, are a language God clearly understands.
We know from studying God’s Word that when we are sad, He is saddened. Conversely, when we are joyous with good reason, God rejoices with us. He cares for what concerns us, and our Lord is always, always, always happy to see our lives overflowing with joy.
God is with us in our joy!
Today, let’s thank God for the opportunity to experience times of joy in our lives.
Let’s thank Him for the chance to rejoice with others in the body of Christ.
Let’s exalt Him for the joy that he and His Son, Jesus, and the indwelling Holy Ghost have brought to our lives.
And let’s remember that when we share our Joy with others, that joyful act has the potential to change their eternal destinies.
No kidding. Joy can reshape a broken life!
Pain is ours for a moment, but joy comes in the morning.
Today, let’s be people of joy, as we lift holy hands in celebration of our Joy Maker–our King and Savior, the only Lord Almighty. May He always reign in our lives!!!
When have you experienced tears of joy that freely ran down your face? When have you done something that brought another great relief and joy?
